Prep Your Face

1. The secret to Face Freshness – Wash Your Face!

Before you get your face makeup ready, splash your face with lukewarm water. Use a good face wash that suits your skin type or a cleanser that rinses away any debris. Dry your face with gentle dabs with a soft towel.

  • DON’T: Wash your face with hot water. Hot water makes your skin dry and prone to irritation. Room temperature water or lukewarm water is perfect for washing your face.
  • DON’T: Scrub your face harshly. This tends to make the skin more fragile.

2. Moisturize:

This is another important step before putting on makeup. Moistening your skin gives a subtle final look and makes the makeup process easy to follow. Buy a moisturizer that serves your skin well. Massage it above your lips, eyelids, and areas where you think dry patches frequently occur on your face.

3. Foundation

The most significant step in selecting your foundation is finding the perfect match for your skin tone and skin type. Liquid foundation is a preferred choice. But you can also go for a BB cream or a tinted moisturizer if your skin is dry. But if you have oily skin, then you might want to apply a powder or compact foundation.

Applying Tips:
  • Use a blender, foundation brush, or your finger to apply foundation evenly.
  • Avoid applying extra foundation on blemishes—it only makes them more prominent.
  • Blend the foundation well around the edges and chin.

4. Concealer

A concealer is a great makeup product to hide away your dark circles. Pick a concealer one shade lighter. Apply a tiny amount of it using your finger or a concealer brush by dabbing it lightly on the dark circles and blending it gently. This will make your eyes look brighter instead of droopy. Note that applying a concealer isn’t a must-do casual makeup step. You can always skip it, and still manage to flaunt a good look. It all depends on your choice to highlight a particular feature or play down one.

5. Face Powder and Blush

Use a powder brush or puff to apply the face powder that is the right fit for your skin tone. Move the powder brush in a circular motion against your face. This enhances the ‘natural-makeup look’ and sets your foundation firmly.

If you have extra time on any day, then you can also choose to apply a bronzer and a highlighter for contouring. A highlighter would help brighten that part of your face where you’d like to have a pop. And a bronzer does the best job to create a flattering shadow.

A blush-on gives a nice little finishing touch to your face. Apply a pink-toned blush. Swirl the brush as you smile from cheek to cheek and add color to the apples of your cheek.

6. Eye Makeup and Lip Color

Eyeshadow:

For casual makeup look, try to avoid bright or dark shades. “Smokey eye look” is a big no-no for an everyday makeup look. Opt for neutral shades instead like brown, grey, light blue tones, gold, or any lighter shade that goes well with your eye color.

Some tips to apply eyeshadows like a pro are:
  • Start with a base shadow. Use one that is a close match to your upper eyelid color. Use the eye shadow brush or your finger over your lid and take it up to your eyebrow.
  • From your eyelashes and all the way to the crease, apply a medium color shade to your eyelid.
  • Use a nice fluffy brush to perfectly blend the colors.

Eyeliner:

During the day, a navy, charcoal, or brown-colored eyeliner is mostly recommended. You can consider the black one for your outings at night. Do it with a steady hand and make sure to apply them equally on both eyelids. You can also blend it well with the eye shadow brush to give the line a less harsh look.

Mascara:

Apply mascara on your lower and upper eyelashes. A black or brown mascara works fine for a casual look.

Many girls avoid wearing mascara because it stiffens their eyelashes. If it bothers you, then you can always go for an eyelash curler to make them look natural, long, and pretty.

Lip Color

Use nude, neutral-colored, or pink lipstick or lip gloss, depending on your preference. Try not to apply heavy lip liner and bold colors for daytime.

Once you’re done with the makeup, walk out your door with a smile on your face. We hope these tips helped in creating the look you wanted.
